My very first trip to Thailand many years ago ended in an off beaten track of Tee Lor Su Waterfall, one of the most impressive waterfalls I have even seen. It is not only beautiful, but hard to reach.
It was a long long journey from Bangkok to Mae Sariang and from Mae Sariang to Maesot. From Maesot, we took a songthaew to Umphang near the Burmese border. The journey was winding with 1200 bends along the scenic mountainous road on 1090 highway. Those who are carsick on winding road better be prepared with plastic bags!

Upon reaching Umphang, we had to take a 3 hour rubber boat ride along Mae Klong River. It was a quiet ride with forest on both sides of the river. After the boat ride, we had to trek for another 2-3 hours on laterite trail before we reached the campsite. The journey to reach the campsite from Maesot would have taken a whole day. We reached the campsite in pitch dark.

The next day, we explored the waterfall. It was a short walk around 30 minutes to the waterfall from the campsite. So, you can imagine how deep and remote it is. However, it was all worth the time and effort to travel to this unique, isolated, off beaten waterfall. It stands majestically with waters flowing in towering height, surrounded by mists. I could feel the body soaking wet at the beach below from the mist. When the morning light shone upon the cascading waters, the scene was transformed into a heaven like nature.
